In January, 2010, my husband and I decided to sell our home in Mount Pearl and move to BC for health reasons and to be nearer to our only child. We thought we’d try and sell our home privately and listed it for sale in our local newspaper. One caller was Martin Byrne, a local real estate specialist. Even though he knew that we were attempting to sell without an agent, he gave us some great tips about staging, open houses, etc., wished us good luck and said to call him if we needed anything further from him. Well, we thought, this is a very interesting agent – he put absolutely no pressure on us to sell our home through him, gave us guidance and seemed genuinely concerned about how we were faring in our endeavour. We did sell our home privately; unfortunately, the sale fell through when the buyer could not get financing approved. That’s when we knew we needed an agent – someone who would have access to all the information that we could not access ourselves. Of course, the first agent we thought of was Martin Byrne. He stepped in and took all the paperwork out of our hands. Martin had already armed himself with all the information he could about our property, neighbourhood properties, schools, etc., JUST IN CASE we requested him to act as our agent. All the homework was done before he was even assigned it! We were so appreciative of that; frankly, we were tired of all the work involved and of the people who were not really interested in buying - that just wanted a look. Martin weeded out all of that, and we were perfectly content to leave it all in his hands. As well, Martin is super quick to return phone calls – we were very impressed by that! Yes, Martin did sell our home, and we were very pleased with the sale price. From the time Martin took over until my husband and I were on the plane to Vancouver was only three months – everything signed, sealed and delivered! We were, and continue to be, very impressed by Martin’s diligence, hard work, honesty, and willingness to steer us back onto the right path when my husband and I sometimes became frustrated. He stood steadfast when a prospective buyer demanded a little too much from us; he also gave us the truth when he thought we were a little too rigid in our wants. You see, Martin is a man who will not compromise his principles to sell a home; he works with and for his clients wholeheartedly and will not give up until he has completed his work for you.
